Baseball season over for Swedes

GREAT BEND – The Bethany College baseball team could not overcome a 13-run second inning Friday as the Swedes ended their season with a 20-6 loss to Friends University.

 The Swedes closed the season with a 23-31 record overall and went 13-15 in the KCAC. Bethany was 2-2 in the KCAC Tournament with two wins over the University of Saint Mary, and a loss to Friends University and Tabor College each.

Friends collected 25 hits, 13 of which came in the 13-run second inning. Bethany had nine hits on the afternoon, three of them home runs.

Ryley Ross took the loss.

Offensively, Sammeul Ramirez led Bethany by going 2-for-4 at the plate, connecting on a home run to drive in three runs. Christian Orneles and Aaron Huerta also homered for the Swedes.
