HALSTEAD — The Smoky Valley baseball Vikings saw the first game get away, then were blown out in the second game Monday by Halstead.

In the opener, the Vikings held leads of 2-0, 4-2, 5-4 and 6-5 before the Dragons scored two runs in the fifth for a 7-6 victory.

The Vikes certainly hit the ball well enough to win. Kirk Barnes led the way with three hits, while garnering two each were Christian Hansen, Tim Ruble, Blake Mitchell and Jordin Foth.

Josh Allbright took the loss.

Halstead didn’t mess around in the second game, scoring nine runs in the first and seven in the second for a 16-1 victory.

Hansen and Mitchell had the lone Viking hits. Ryan Weldy took the loss.

Smoky Valley is now 1-13 and hosts Kingman on Friday.
