MOUNDRIDGE — Sacred Heart’s boys and Hutchinson Trinity’s girls captured championships Tuesday in the Moundridge Invitational Track and Field Meet.
On the boys’ side, Sacred Heart scored 115 points to outlast Sterling, which scored 94.
Other team totals were Bennington (62), Moundridge (60), Inman (57), Sedgwick (52), Hutchinson Trinity (51), Wichita Home School (48) and Canton-Galva (19).
The only gold medal for the McPherson area schools came from Moundridge’s Deshawn Pfaff in the pole vault as he cleared 12-7.
Inman’s boys received silvers from Tobias Belknap in the 3,200 (12:16.4), Justin Friesen in the 300 hurdles (43.0) and the 4 x 400 relay team of Friesen, Ethan Counsell, Tyler Cottam and Barkley Williams (3:41.5).
Moundridge’s Cade Graber had a second in the triple jump (40-5 1/2).
On the girls’ side, Hutchinson Trinity outlasted Wichita Home School in a spirited battle, 109-105.
Sedgwick was third with 95, with Moundridge next with 62. Other scores were Sacred Heart (54), Sterling (49), Inman (41), Bennington (31) and Canton-Galva (5).
Inman’s Emma Aberg continues to make a name for herself. She won the 200 in 26.7 and was second in the 100 (12.6).
Moundridge had a pair of firsts. Ashley Holler won the pole vault (7-7) and the Wildcats’ 4 x 400 relay team of Holler, Anna Stucky, Cassidy Siemens and Peri Lange grabbed the gold in 4:19.3.
The Wildcats received a pair of seconds from Brooke Holloway in the javelin (112-5) and shot put (28-8).
Inman’s Krystal Miller had a silver in the 400 (1:02.4) and the Teutons’ 4 x 100 relay of Miller, Aberg, Nicole Neufeldt and Taryn Glenn finished second (52.1).
