SALINA — McPherson Middle School’s boys tennis team completed its season in style earlier this week by taking first place in the 10-team Salina Lakewood Invitational.

The Bullpups won three of the four divisions.

MMS won both singles divisions as Jarrod Nowak was 6-0 at No. 1 and Kaden Stewart was 6-0 at No. 2.

The No. 1 doubles team of Andrew Snell and Nolan Schrader also went 6-0 to take first. The No. 2 team of Brycen Gipson and Jace Kinnamon went 4-2 for third place.

• GIRLS ALSO TAKE FIRST — On Thursday the MMS girls’ team completed its season as well, also in top-notch fashion, by taking first place in a 10-team event it hosted.

It was a huge day for Maisie Edmonson. She was 6-0 at No. 1 singles and also won the annual Bob Ahlstedt Award for the meet’s outstanding performer.

Cheyann Williams also had a great day in singles, going 6-0 to win the No. 2 division.

In doubles, the No. 2 team of Riley Hett and Ashley Achilles went 5-1 to take second place. The No. 1 team of Kallie Jost and Madison Schmidt placed third, finishing 4-2.
