SALINA — For the first time this year, McPherson High’s softball team was swept in a doubleheader, though it was against two different foes.
Great Bend chipped away at the Bullpups for a 7-1 victory in a triangular. The Panthers scored in five of their six at-bats.
Kelsey Kerr and Stephanie Farney had two hits apiece for the Bullpups.
Against Salina South, MHS overcame a 3-0 deficit to tie the game at 3-all, only to surrender a run in the bottom of the seventh in a 4-3 walk-off loss.
Hannah Marshall clubbed three hits for the Bullpups, while Madison Hoffman and Jasmine Wann had two. Gracy Feil drove in two runs.
The MHS JVs played South in a pair of games, losing 8-0 and 15-5.
The Bullpups had only four singles in the first game by four different players. In the second game, MHS wasted a 4-of-4 game by Teri Yates. Elle Schrag added two hits.
MHS is now 12-6 on the year. It wraps up regular season play Tuesday at Salina Central.
