LITTLE RIVER — The Little River baseball team completed a 15-5 regular season on Tuesday by sweeping Ellsworth.
Tevin Renken appeared to be in postseason form with a dazzling one-hitter in the opener, as the Redskins came away with a 14-0 victory. Renken walked only one and fanned 12 in the five-inning game.
A 10-run fourth inning put the game on ice.
Hitting leaders were Zack Konen (two hits, two runs), Kyler Cox (three runs, two hits, two RBIs), Renken (two RBIs), Cordell Moore (two hits, two runs, two RBIs) and J.J. Porter (two runs, two RBIs).
The second game was a wild affair, as Little River led 14-4 after two innings before settling for an 18-8 success.
The Redskins pounded out 17 hits, all of them, amazingly, singles.
Leaders were Renken (four hits, four RBIs, two runs), Laramie Peters (three hits, five RBIs), Cox (three runs, two hits, two RBIs), Dalton Arnold (three hits, four runs), Konen (three runs) and Moore (two hits, three RBIs).
Grant Harvey was the winner in relief, allowing no earned runs in three innings. The Redskins scored nine of their runs in the first inning and added five in the second.
The Redskins now await their postseason pairing.
