GYPSUM — Class 3A’s No. 2-ranked baseball team, Southeast of Saline, dealt Canton-Galva a pair of losses Tuesday in the Eagles’ final regular-season action.
Southeast was an 8-1 winner in the first game. Tanner Klingensmith and Reed Wiens tossed three innings apiece for the Eagles, both giving up four runs though only one of Klingensmith’s was earned. Nick Bray drove in Connor Farnham with the only run.
Southeast completed the sweep with an 11-1 triumph. Caleb Sovde drove in Bray with the Eagles’ run.
Jacob Dailey worked 5 1/3 innings, with Jacob Struber finishing up. The game was close until the fifth when Southeast improved on its 3-1 lead.
Despite the sweep, C-G coach Kelly Nelson saw some positives.
“Tanner, Reed and Jacob Dailey did a really good job of keeping the ball down in the strike zone against a really good-hitting team, but we just couldn't come up with any offense,” he said.
Canton-Galva will be hosting a regional tournament beginning Monday in Galva. Pairings should be released later today.
