CLAY CENTER — Smoky Valley’s baseball team made its final appearance before next week’s regional by dropping a twinbill Thursday to Clay Center.
The Tigers were a 12-4 winner in the first game, keyed by a six-run first inning. Noah Lackey was 2 for 3 for the Vikings, while Christian Hansen added a double. Bradden Bergman took the loss.
The Tigers captured a 9-1 victory in the second game. Clay Center used a pair of four-run innings as the impetus to the win. Kirk Barnes was 2 for 3 for Smoky Valley.
The Vikings (1-17) compete in 4A Division II regional play Monday in Concordia. They have drawn Seneca-Nemaha Valley at 2 p.m.
