GOESSEL — Little River’s Emily Baldwin and Erin Hudson broke Wheat State League track and field records last week during the WSL Championships.

Baldwin threw the shot 37-9 1/2 to win the event and Hudson bounded 33-4 for the top honor ever in the triple jump.

Behind that duo, the Redskins took third place in the meet.

It was a great day for Baldwin, as she also won the discus and added a pair of silvers in the javelin and 4 x 400 relay.

Hudson also won the long jump and took third in the 100 to add to her outstanding day.

Another gold-medal winner was Ruth Lehman, who bested the field in the 800.

The Little River boys were seventh. Zach Galyon had a nice day in the sprints with a second in the 100, third in the 400 and fourth in the 200. Trevor Smyres established a PR in the javelin, taking fourth in the event.

The Redskins make the long jaunt to Smith Center on Friday for regional action.
