MAYETTA — McPherson High’s Dylan Blosser got off to a slow start Tuesday in the Class 4A State Golf Tournament and could never recover in shooting a 90 at Firekeeper Golf Course.

Blosser was 5-over-par after two holes and spent the rest of the day trying to play catch-up. He was competing in the state tournament for the third time in his career. He was 68th out of 106 players.

Topeka Hayden won the team title comfortably with a 314. Buhler was second with 329 and earning the third plaque was Ottawa with 333, edging Iola by one stroke.

Bonner Springs’ Marc McCain turned a lot of heads with his round of 3-under-par 69 to win medalist honors. Tonganoxie’s Drew Sandburg was second with 72.
