Hoffman, Marshall, Kerr make D-III softball first team

McPherson High’s Madison Hoffman made first-team AVCTL Division III at two positions and was joined on the first team by teammates Hannah Marshall and Chelsey Kerr, as postseason softball selections were announced today.

Hoffman was picked to the first team both as a pitcher and utility player. Marshall was the top first baseman and Kerr was peerless at shortstop.

MHS’ Gracy Feil made the second team at second base. MHS’ Jasmine Wann earned honorable mention at catcher and Marissa Axelson was honorable mention as a utility player.

Mulvane’s Bailey Holt was tabbed the D-III Most Valuable Player, while Rose Hill’s Kim Waltman was named Coach of the Year even though the Rockets were fourth in the league at 4-6 but did qualify for state.

MHS finished in a tie for the league championship with Mulvane, as both teams were 8-2 in D-III games.
