Zuriel Reyes, who sparked St. John High School to an undefeated season and Class 2A state championship in March, has signed a basketball letter of intent with McPherson College.

Reyes, a 5-10 guard, played for Clint Kinnamon, a McPherson College grad and former Bulldog basketball standout.

Reyes was a prolific 3-point shooter and averaged 18 points, three rebounds and three steals per game for the Tigers as a senior. St. John also won the state title in 2013.

Reyes was a Class 2A All-State second-team selection this season and was earned Central Plains League honors. He made a pair of All-Tournament teams.

He was a four-year honor roll member.

"Zuriel comes from one of the top high school basketball programs in the state of Kansas,” McPherson College coach Tim Swartzendruber said. “Coach Clint Kinnamon, a McPherson College graduate, had done a tremendous job there and we are thrilled to get one of his players. Zuriel is an outstanding shooter, a great student and understands what it takes to be successful. We couldn't be more pleased with this signing."

Zuriel is the son of Maria and Roberto Reyes.
