MHS grads shine in KVA match

TOPEKA — McPherson High graduate Paige Regnier gave Washburn University volleyball fans a glimpse of what to expect this fall.

Regnier, one of the Ichabods’ top recruits, slammed down a team-high 12 kills Saturday night to lead the Blue team past the Reds in the Kansas Volleyball Association All-Star Match.

Regnier also had 11 digs, an ace and block assist. She also had the match's decisive kill. In addition, she was the recipient of the Don Bechard Memorial Award.

Behind her explosive effort, the Blue team won in five sets (21-25, 25-23, 25-16, 24-26, 15-12).

McPherson’s Janae Barnes also played for the Blue team. She had three kills, three block assists and a service ace.

McPherson’s Moira Pyle played for the Red team and was splendid in defeat. She had team highs of 42 assists and 18 digs. She also had three kills.
