Crash in McPherson County Sunday night injures four

A crash near the Elyria exit on northbound I-135 Sunday night involved three vehicles and sent four people to the hospital. According to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol a 2007 Ford Focus that had hit a deer was disabled and unoccupied in the roadway on I-135 at mile marker 54.7 about 10:30 Sunday night. The Ford was hit by a 2009 Nissan Altima driven by 37 year old Shannan M. Nickel of Newton and a 2007 Infiniti driven by 65 year old Richard E. Watenpaugh of Lindsborg. No one in the Ford or the Nissan Altima was hurt, but Watenpaugh and his passengers, 54 year old Elizabeth E. Watenpaugh of Lindsborg, 27 year old Danielle C. Tongier of Leawood and 27 year old Henry O. Tongier of Overland Park were taken to McPherson Hospital to be checked out.
