ENID, Okla. — McPherson’s Post 24 U-17 American Legion baseball team made it three wins in a row after a sweep Wednesday of Enid.
A three-run third inning was the difference in a 5-4 first-game victory.
Marcus McDaniel picked up the win, allowing only one earned run in 5 2/3 innings. Post 24 had eight hits in the game, including a triple by Micah McCulley and a double by Brodie Burney, who also added a single and drove in three runs.
McPherson came out swinging in the second game, plating seven runs before the Oklahomans had taken their first turn at the plate. Post 24 also scored four times in the third.
All that offense made it a delight for Griffin Myers, who scattered four hits and struck out seven, while walking only one.
McPherson had 10 hits, nine of them singles. McCulley’s double was the only extra-base knock.
Kolby Reed had two hits and four RBIs, while McCulley and Jacob Loecker also had two hits apiece. Alex Kalkhorst drove in two runs.
McPherson is now 3-2 on the year.
