LINDSBORG — Sophie Cook has signed a letter of intent to play women's tennis at Bethany College for the 2014-15 academic year.

Cook, from Portland, Ore., went to Cleveland High School, where she played varsity tennis all four years. She also competed in a season of varsity swimming. Cook was a four-year recipient of the Scholar-Athlete award.

Cook was president of the German National Honors Society, a member of the National Honors Society and also a member of the National Society of High School Scholars.

"We are glad to have Sophie decide to play tennis at Bethany College next year," Bethany coach Vic Bateman said. "We love her enthusiasm for the game and we are excited to see how this freshmen class of girls develops on and off the court. This group wants to get better every day, both as individuals and as a team."

Cook is the daughter of Kevin Cook. She has a 3.9 grade point average and plans to study biology and forensic science while at Bethany College.
