Central Christian College graduate Andrew Stauffer has been named as the Tigers’ new tennis coach.
Stauffer was a four-year letterwinner for coach Jeremy Nelson, whom he replaces. Nelson will now be devoting all his energies toward his sports information director position.
Stauffer also played soccer for the Tigers. He was a member of Nelson’s sports information staff and also was his assistant tennis coach for two years.
Stauffer has been teaching and coaching at the middle school and high school levels since his graduation from CCC in 2009. He taught at Newton Christian School in 2009-2010, teaching secondary Math and P.E. In 2010 he moved on and taught two years in Elkhart. He was a secondary math teacher and coached middle school basketball and track at Elkhart Middle School.
Stauffer left Elkhart last summer and moved back to his hometown of Newton. He taught this past school year in the Special Education Department at Hesston Middle School, where he also coached the middle school tennis team.
“We are excited to welcome Andrew back to CCC,” CCC Athletic Director Chad Kerr said. “We believe that he has the tools necessary to continue operating our tennis program at a high level.”
Stauffer will also be working part-time as part of the Central Christian College maintenance staff. He is actively working to add a couple of more players to his 2015 roster as he began his duties at the beginning of June.
