After a day where a change of venue occurred, McPherson’s American Legion baseball team eventually landed at Light Capital Diamond for the first time this year.

In a game of wild offensive swings, McPherson overcame an early deficit to grab the lead, only to hand it back in a 12-10 setback to BTL Gray Academy in its first game of the second annual Bob Hooper Classic.

McPherson was down 4-2 after an inning and later 6-2. It came back within 6-5 after three innings and Post 24 later tied the game at 8-all with three runs in the fourth.

Two more runs followed in the fifth for a 10-8 lead, but McPherson couldn’t stand prosperity. BTL came back for a run in the sixth and pulled out the win with three runs in the seventh.

Tens were wild for Post 24, as it had 10 runs, 10 hits but unfortunately 10 errors as it had trouble adapting to its different home surroundings.

Cody Starkel hit a first-inning home run and finished the game 3 for 4 with three runs scored. Brodie Burney and Griffin Myers both had two hits and drove in two runs.

Micah McCulley took the loss after Jack Reifschneider exited with the lead.

McPherson will play twice on Saturday, at 3 p.m. at Grant Complex and 5:30 p.m. at Light Capital as the schedule was redone early Friday.
