LINDSBORG — July’s first announced signing for the Bethany College men’s basketball team is named June.

June Johnson of Wichita recently signed a letter of intent with the Swedes.

Johnson, a 6-2 guard, most recently played at Garden City Community College. He averaged 8.0 points per game, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists. He shot 42 percent from behind the 3-point line and 78 percent from the free-throw line.

"We are pleased that June Johnson will be earning his business management degree from Bethany College and joining Bethany basketball. June is a great addition to our program," Bethany coach Clair Oleen said. "He is an exceptional athlete who shoots the ball very well from the 3-point line, but he also is very good off the dribble with explosive mid-range jumpers and strong finishes at the rim. June is super coachable with a great attitude to go along with his tremendous work ethic. He also gets us another great defender on the court."

June is the son of Jessica Espinoza. He was on the honor roll three times in high school and he plans major in business management.
