ALMA — McPherson’s U-17 American Legion baseball team is in refuse-to-lose mode.
Post 24’s winning streak reached double digits Saturday by cruising to a pair of triumphs in the Alma Invitational. By lengthening its winning streak to 10, McPherson is now 15-5.
McPherson opened tourney play with an 8-1 victory over The Senators. Marcus McDaniel doubled and singled, good for three RBIs. Cody Starkel stayed on his tear with two hits and two RBIS, while Kolby Reed did likewise. McPherson cranked out 10 hits in the game.
All that offense made it easy for Caleb Schmidt, who iced the opposition on five hits, while walking only one and running the whiff meter up to nine.
McPherson followed that up with a 9-1 victory over Burlington. Ten walks made it easy for Post 24 and Griffin Myers was nails on the mound by allowing just one hit and fanning six.
Casen Hoover scored three runs as he reached base via a double and two walks.
