LINDSBORG — Ricardo Gonzalez’s next destination will be a little more than a hop, skip and jump from his hometown.
Gonzalez, who hails from Salinas Santa Elena, Ecuador, recently signed a letter of intent to play soccer for Bethany College.
Gonzalez, a midfielder and wing, prepped at Jefferson Primary School, where he played both soccer and volleyball. Academically, Gonzalez earned the spelling award in 2008 and science fair award in 2009.
"We are very excited to have Ricardo joining our program and college this fall," Bethany coach Shane Taylor said. "We were looking for offensive players this offseason that work hard on and off the ball and he certainly fits that mold. We know Ricardo will work hard and make a positive impact on our team."
He is the son of Ricardo and Lorena Gonzalez. He carried a 3.4 grade point average in high school.
