It’s time for McPherson’s considerable sports fan base to get to work.

According toCatchitKansas.com, the seventh annual “Catchy Awards” voting has reached the halfway point. Voting ends on July 25.

And McPherson is trailing in two of three important categories.

The Horton twins, Ryan and Peter, are leading in their category of the No. 1 Boys Tennis Player or Tennis Duo.

However, McPherson High’s Kyler Kinnamon is trailing Goddard Eisenhower’s Trevon Evans in the race for Basketball Player of the Year.

And maybe one that will definitely strike a nerve, the McPherson High boys basketball team is trailing arch-rival Buhler’s football team for the 2013-14 “Team of the Year.”

Hesston voters, however, appear to be holding up their end. The Hesston girls basketball team is leading in the race for 3A Team of the Year. The Swathers’ Ryan Schadler also is on top for Boys Track and Field Athlete of the Year. He is, however, trailing Derby’s DeAndre Goolsby for football player of the year despite a 2,400-yard, 42 TD-season.

McPherson and Hesston voters, it’s take to take to your computers and run those numbers up for your athletes and teams. More than 6,000 fans have voted so far.
