McPherson High quarterback Kyler Kinnamon has been selected among the Top 25 football players to watch this fall byCatchitKansas.com.

Kinnamon checked in a surprisingly low No. 21. He was the only area player to make the list, which was headlined by Hays quarterback Alex Delton, who has committed to Kansas State and whose team will be a district opponent for the Bullpups this year.

Kinnamon certainly put up eye-popping numbers as a junior. He broke Dwayne Chandler’s 25-year-old single-season rushing record — despite being a quarterback. He rushed for 1,662 yards and scored 24 touchdowns, while also throwing for 1,154 yards and five touchdowns, despite the fact his top receiver, TJ Stites, was moved to wide receiver after four games, which led to his passing numbers declining.

Another surprisingly low rating went to Andale’s Hunter Knoblauch, who is ranked only No. 11 on the list despite the fact he might be the state’s top running back.

Buhler quarterback Jace Williams, whose team also is on the district schedule for the Bullpups, came in at N0. 8.
