LINDSBORG — Seven Bethany College athletic teams earned NAIA Scholar status as announced on Tuesday.
Qualifying for the prestigious academic honor were the baseball, softball, men's golf, women's golf, men's outdoor track and field, women's outdoor track and field and volleyball teams.
Women's outdoor track and field led the charge with a splendid 3.63 team grade point average. Softball was second at 3.51, followed by volleyball (3.50), men's golf (3.42), women's golf (3.34), baseball (3.33) and men's outdoor track and field (3.30).
"I am tremendously proud that these teams exemplify the mission of our Department of Athletics and represent the true meaning of student-athlete," Bethany Dean of Athletics Dane Pavlovich said. "I am very proud of these teams and their accomplishments both in the classrooms and on the fields of competition."
To be considered for the NAIA Scholar-Team award, teams must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale as defined by the institution. The team grade point average includes all eligible varsity student-athletes.
