Tina Haga has been named as Central Christian College’s new softball coach, replacing Chad Kerr.
She served last year as Kerr’s assistant coach. Kerr has moved on to coach at the NCAA Division II level at Alderson Broaddus University in Philippi, W.Va.
Haga also has coaching experience at the high school level, as she led the Hesston Swathers for eight years, during which time the team made continual improvement. She has coached the Kansas Renegades in the summer, which is a traveling team.
Central Christian College Chief Student Affairs Officer Chris Smith announced the hiring as the college is still in the process of hiring a new athletic director to replace Kerr, who wore two hats at the school.
“We are really excited about coach Haga assuming these responsibilities,” Smith said. “She is highly regarded within the softball community and with the community of McPherson. I know that the ladies are excited and trust that together they will put an excellent product on the field to represent CCC and The Lord.”
“I'm thrilled to have this opportunity to lead this great group of young ladies,” Haga said. “I have huge shoes to fill, but am very excited and ready to hit the ground running."
Haga already has been busy recruiting. She can be reached at email@example.com.
