LINDSBORG — Richard Hildago Jr. is the latest member of Bethany College’s baseball recruiting class.
An outfielder, Hidalgo — originally from Caracas, Venezuela — comes to Bethany from Wabash Valley College in Mount Carmel, Ill.
He comes from a baseball family, as his father Richard played for the Houston Astros, New York Mets and Texas Rangers, hitting 171 career homers.
Hidalgo attended Paths High School in Kissimmee, Fla. He was the starting outfielder on the baseball team his sophomore through senior year, and was also on the A/B Honor Roll for four years.
"I am excited to announce the signing of Richard Hidalgo, Jr. to our incoming class," Bethany coach Andrew Bartman said. "Richard has been in a junior college program I really trust and I know he will come in prepared and ready to contribute right away."
He is the son of Aleida Hidalgo and Richard Hidalgo, Sr., and now resides in Orlando, Fla. He has a 3.2 grade point average, and plans to major in athletic training.
