Defense is expected to be the strength of the McPherson College football team this season.

Opposing KCAC coaches must think that as well as Wednesday two Bulldogs were named to the preseason All-KCAC defensive first team. Only returning players were eligible for the team as voted on by the conference’s 10 coaches.

Defensive lineman Grant Narcisse and linebacker Trent Forrester were the Bulldogs to gain elite mention.

Narcisse, a run-stuffer in the middle, came on strong during his freshman year. The 6-0 and 265-pound sophomore hails from Crosby, Texas.

The Salina South graduate Forrester, 6-2 and 215 pounds, is expected to be the ringleader of the Mac defense after turning in a solid junior campaign.

Friends led the way with nine selections, while defending KCAC champion Sterling landed six on the team. Ottawa was right behind with five.

Bethany College did not have any players gain mention.
