LEAVENWORTH — Paola is the opponent today for the McPherson American Legion baseball team as it continues its drive back through the loser’s bracket of the Class A State Tournament.

Game time is set for 12:30 p.m.

McPherson remained alive Thursday with an impressive 11-1 rout of Dodge City in a game that took only four innings and about an hour to play.

Paola dropped into the loser’s bracket after being blanked 9-0 by Doniphan County in Thursday’s late game.

If McPherson defeats Paola, it plays again today at 8:30 against the winner of Manhattan and Salina, who play this morning’s 10:00 game.

In other games Thursday, Manhattan eliminated tourney host Leavenworth with a 14-5 victory, while Andover remained undefeated with a 5-0 shutout of Salina.

Andover and Doniphan County play at 6 p.m. today for the right to play in the championship game.

On Saturday, an elimination game is set for noon, with the championship game at 2:30. If an extra game is needed because of the double-elimination format, it would be played at 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
