LINDSBORG — It may be late in the summer, but honors are still coming in for the Bethany College golf team.

The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) has announced the 2014 Team Academic Awards, presented by Farmers Insurance. Bethany College was selected a GCAA All-Academic NAIA Team.

The Swedes posted a team grade point average of 3.42 during the 2013-2014 academic year. Bethany men's golf was also named a NAIA Scholar-Team in early July.

"This is certainly a tribute to their work in the classroom and the faculty that work with them throughout the year," Bethany coach Jon Daniels said. "I am very proud of their accomplishments."

To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors, a college or university must submit the grade point averages for each player on its official roster for the academic year. In order to be named an All-Academic Team, team grade point averages must be higher than a 3.0. In addition, teams who have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher are awarded the President's Special Recognition honors.

GCAA awards teams from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and NJCAA Division I and II. A total of 141 teams submitted grade point averages of 3.0 or higher, earning All-Academic Team honors.

The Swedes were one of eight NAIA teams to earn the GCAA All-Academic Team award. Other NAIA honorees were Carroll, University of the Cumberlands, Dalton State, Embry Riddle-Arizona, SCAD Atlanta, SCAD Savannah and Wayland Baptist.
