LEAVENWORTH — McPherson’s magic continued here Thursday.

Returning to the scene of their monumental triumph from last weekend, Post 24 opened play in the American Legion Mid States Tournament by knocking off the Class A state champion from Texas, 6-4.

McPherson now moves on to play at 2 p.m. Friday against the winner of South Dakota and Missouri.

Micah McCulley picked up the win, his fourth of the postseason, with Caleb Schmidt earning the save. Once again, McPherson had balanced hitting, which was the hallmark of its state championship run here last week. Post 24 led 6-1 at one point before fending off the Texans rally.

More will be posted later.
