LINDSBORG — Bethany College wrestling coach Cody Garcia recently signed a namesake as his newest recruit.

Christian Garcia, of El Paso, Texas, has signed a letter of intent to wrestle with the Swedes. He competed in the 174-pound class at Irvin High School.

Garcia also played football and ran track.

He played quarterback for the football team, throwing for 1,439 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also had six rushing touchdowns.

"CJ is a great young man that is going to make an impact with his attitude and work power," Cody Garcia said. "He has a very positive support system with family and has a desire to get better. Those qualities are why he is a great fit for this group and why we are so excited to add him to our wrestling family.”

Garcia is the son of Joaquin Garcia. He is planning on studying business.
