LINDSBORG — Torree Soelberg has joined the Bethany College women’s soccer program as an assistant coach.
"The women's' soccer team is very excited to hire on Torree Soelberg to the staff,” Bethany coach Sean McMannis said. "I had the great privilege of working with Torree at the Berkshire Soccer Academy this summer in Massachusetts, where she and I trained the older players at the camp. Her energy and excitement to jump all the way in here at Bethany will allow us to train harder and impact more players here. She is an excellent coach that knows the systems, and is ready to take us to that next level."
Soelberg has been in East Otis, Mass., where she was the assistant soccer coach at the Berkshire Soccer Academy for Girls. She worked with the head coach to create session plans, carrying out practice sessions, and teaching mental skills, nutrition and the importance of individual practice.
"I am grateful for the opportunity to work with coach Sean McMannis, and looking forward to being a part of this winning program that Bethany women's soccer is known for," he said.
Soelberg served as the equipment manager and assistant soccer coach at Bakersfield College from July 2013 to December 2013. There, she issued athletic equipment, lockers, and equipment storage and assisted with the fitting of athletic equipment to individual athletes. She also had roles in the planning and administration of practice, assisted with game day preparation and game strategies, and helped with recruiting.
From June 2013-June 2014, Soelberg was the assistant soccer coach for the South Valley U-12 team. She also spent time as a high school substitute teacher in the Kern High School District from January to June 2014.
Soelberg holds a Bachelor of Science in Sports and Exercise Science from Brigham Young University-Hawaii, where she graduated summa cum laude with a 3.89 grade point average in April 2013, and played on the women's soccer team. She also has an Associate of Arts Degree from Bakersfield College, graduating cum laude.
