LINDSBORG — Kenneth Pitts has been named as the Director of Football Performance at Bethany College.
"Coach Pitts comes to Bethany College with the highest recommendations from respected NFL coaches," Bethany coach Manny Matsakis said. "I am excited to bring a coach of his caliber to direct our High Performance Program for football. He will be in charge of all aspects regarding the development of our student-athletes."
Pitts previously worked as a volunteer strength and conditioning coach at The Ohio State University, assisting with daily operations of various sports as assigned by the associate strength coach. In addition, he served as a strength and conditioning assistant for the NFL for two years, assisting with the design, development and monitoring of the athletes' programs.
"It is truly a blessing to be a part of the football program here at Bethany College,” Pitts said. "I look forward to working alongside a great coaching staff and skilled athletes."
Pitts holds numerous licenses and certifications: Licensed Massage Therapist, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Certified Personal Trainer, Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES), Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES), Certified Flexband Trainer, and CPR/AED.
He has worked as a massage therapist at Massage Envy since April 2012, and has also served as a strength and conditioning coach/consultant, both at Next Level Fitness and Training since 2011 and as a self-employed consultant since 2007. In addition, Pitts worked as an Adjunct Professor at Columbus State Community College for two years, instructing students in the Sport and Exercise Science program.
Pitts has pioneered and performed personal training services for Capital University Fitness (CAP Fit), receiving the Exercise Science Award. He was also a sports performance coach for Max Sports Institute Extreme QB School and Max Sports Institute Football Academy High School Football Combine.
Pitts holds a Master of Science Degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion, Rehabilitation Science from California University of Pennsylvania. He also has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Exercise Science from Capital University (OH).
