The McPherson Police Department participated in Safe Kids McPherson County's 'Bucks for Buckles' on Tuesday.
The event was sponsored by the State Farm insurance offices of Galen Shields & Jim LaDuke & hosted by Wendy's on North Main Street.
Volunteers from each agency gave out a dollar to every driver who came through the parking lot wearing a seatbelt. Information on seatbelt safety was also passed out & the temperature was monitored in a nearby parked car. Tammie Henson, SK~MPCO Coordinator, shared the readings to draw attention to the growing problem of children & pets left in vehicles.
Tuesday's outside temperature soared to 98, and while the front windows & sun roof were cracked open & the rear hatch left up, the temperature inside the vehicle still rose 50 degrees higher!!!
