Pedestrian Right of Way

(Standard Traffic Ordinance #64 & KSA 8-1533 Find the exact wording here: kansasstatutes.lesterama.org/Chapter_8/Article_15/8-1533.html)

Loose meaning: Drivers "shall yield the right-of-way, slowing down or stopping if need be to ...yield, to a pedestrian crossing the roadway within a crosswalk". And while pedestrians have an obligation to cross in a way which does not "constitute an immediate hazard", drivers bear the burden of being aware of and watchful for those who enter the street. Essentially, every corner is a crosswalk whether it is indicated by paint, a sign, or a crossing guard.

Slow, stop, & yield -every time.
