A second McPherson High underclassmen volleyball player has made a verbal college commitment.
Bullpup junior Magan Alexander has committed to play at Fort Hays State beginning with the 2016 season. She will major in nursing.
Earlier, MHS junior Megan Pedersen committed to play in 2016 at the University of Missouri at Kansas City.
Alexander and Pedersen are expected to be mainstays for coach Christy Doile’s Bullpups this season. They combined their talents this summer to play on a national championship team.
Alexander had 31 kills and 10 aces as a sophomore for a Bullpup team that was 39-4.
"Magan is an explosive outside hitter and server," MHS coach Christy Doile said. "She has the ability to hit multiple type sets out of the outside or middle, making her harder for blockers to defend. Her long reach and vertical make her a talented outside hitter that can also help put a big double block in the middle. When she rotates to the back row, we depend on her serve to score points. She is able to locate and to put some nice pop on the ball to score points for us. In the back row rotations, she can receive as well as be an offensive threat hitting pipes or back-row attacks."
Former MHS mainstay Bethany Farres is a current member of the Tigers as she's in her junior season.
The Bullpups begin 2014 play Saturday in the AVCTL Preseason Tournament at Hutchinson.
