It may be a common theme this year for Central Christian College’s women’s soccer team.
The Lady Tigers’ 12-member team — which means they have one sub for the 90 minutes — stayed right with KCAC power Bethany College for a half here Saturday, trailing only 2-0.
But the legs turned to lead in the second half, as the fresher Swedes took advantage for a seven-goal onslaught to complete a 9-0 victory.
All-KCAC performer Sarah Henderson swelled her personal stats with four goals. Andrea Vidales had two, while scoring one each were Erika Klein, Christina Noonan and Devan De La Cruz. Henderson, Noonan and Vidales added two assists each.
The Lady Tigers managed four shots on goal, two apiece by Marianna Mercer and Nikki Neal.
“Obviously a tough result to swallow,” CCC coach Scott Fogarty said. “We have a handful of promising players, but we lack experience. Our inexperience hurt us today. We just have to keep our heads up and learn from this experience."
CCC plays Wednesday at Friends.
