McPherson has a new Community Development Director. Tom Steinmetze, longtime Zoning Administrator in McPherson, was hired for the new position at Monday's City Commission meeting.
The new position includes many of Steinmetze's former duties including zoning, health, building and nuisance related enforcement, preparing documentation for Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals meetings, takes care of all non-funding related insurance paperwork, administers the group health insurance plan, and arranges for regular building maintenance for the municipal center.
The Community Development Director now reports to the Public Works Director, rather than directly to City Commissioners.
In the other personnel change from Monday's meeting, Code Enforcement Officer Edye Leslie was given additional responsibilities as the city's Sanitation Officer, which used to fall to Steinmetze, but now are under her jurisdiction, though Leslie will now report to Steinmetze in his new role as Community Development Director.
