McPherson High’s JV tennis team did not have an entry in the No. 2 doubles division Tuesday in the McPherson Invitational.

It didn’t matter.

The Bullpups easily won the meet since they dominated the other three divisions without a blemish to earn the championship

MHS scored 30 points to easily win the title. Valley Center was second with 23 and Hutchinson was third with 17. There nine teams in all.

Rachel Ivers and Shelby Gudenkauf both went 5-0 at No. 1 and 2 singles, respectively. Cassidy Corrigan and Maisie Edmonson did likewise at No. 1 doubles.

MHS’ Madison Schmidt played singles as a wild-card entry and wound up taking second place with a 4-1 record.

MHS coach Tyler Brown said he was pleased with the team’s effort. With as many as nine girls with a legitimate chance to make the varsity Top 6, that makes the JV team plenty strong.
