McPherson College’s sterling start to the volleyball season resulted in the Bulldogs sweeping the first KCAC awards of the year.
Mac finished the week with a 4-1 record, the only loss coming to powerful Northwood University of Florida.
Earning both KCAC Player of the Week and Setter of the Week was Phoebe Barton. Cortlyne Huppe was lauded as the Hitter of the Week. Libero of the Week honors were given to Emily Warner.
Barton, a 5-10 right-side hitter and setter, recorded 110 assists in five matches, highlighted by 31 in the match against Concordia College of Alabama. She also had 23 digs and six kills.
Huppe is a 5-11 middle hitter and accumulated 47 kills in five matches, with a team-high 98 attempts. She also notched three service aces, three solo blocks and six assisted blocks.
Warner, a 5-4 libero, started the season off with 11 digs, but averaged nearly 20 in the next four matches and finished the week with 85. The sophomore served six aces. Her best game came against Ave Maria (Fla.) in which she recorded 24 digs in three sets.
