McPherson College’s nonconference volleyball momentum did not carry over into its KCAC opener here Wednesday night against Sterling.

Mac, which had started 4-1 outside the KCAC, lost 25-19, 25-20 and 25-12. Sterling appears to have a strong team this year as it improved to 7-2 overall.

Taryn Lee led the Bulldogs in kills with 11. Taylor Johnson produced a team-high 15 assists and Emily Warner’s 17 digs were tops. Reigning KCAC Player of the Week Phoebe Barton had a nice match for the Bulldogs with 12 digs and nine assists.

The Bulldogs will see some quality competition Saturday when they travel to Hastings.
