MINNEAPOLIS — The busy Hesston High volleyball team improved to 8-1 on Thursday after sweeping a triangular.

The Swathers needed three sets to dispatch with Trinity Catholic (25-16, 21-25, 25-15) and knocked off Minneapolis in straight sets, 25-23 and 25-15.

“This was a great triangular, with three very competitive teams who are all going to have successful seasons this year,” Hesston coach Jason Peters said. “I was very pleased that we were able to come away with two wins. We did a much better job of battling through our mistakes, and played with a lot of energy and focus in the sets that we won. We will need to bring that same intensity the next two weeks as we start league play with four of the top six teams from last week’s league tournament.”

The Swathers host Smoky Valley and Sterling in a triangular on Tuesday.
