Three goals is normally enough for McPherson College’s women’s soccer team, but it wasn’t here Saturday.
Midland University won a wildly entertaining 4-3 decision from the Bulldogs as Mac fell to 1-2-1 on the season.
The Bulldogs held leads of 1-0 and 2-1, but couldn’t hang on. Midland scored the winning goal with six minutes left in the game.
Haley Anderson, Cydney Lewis and Rhea Vale scored the Bulldogs’ goals. Anderson and Vale also had assists.
It was a 1-1 game at the half before Lewis put the Bulldogs ahead 2-1. After the Warriors scored back-to-back goals, Vale deadlocked the game with 13 minutes left.
Midland had a 16-14 advantage in shots. The Bulldogs lost starting goalie Caitlyn Blagrave with 19 minutes to go to an injury, with Tori Verdieck finishing up.
The Bulldogs host crosstown counterpart Central Christian College at 6:30 p.m. at McPherson Stadium.
