LINDSBORG — Bethany College’s Sarah Henderson is on fire.
Henderson, who earlier this season scored four goals against Central Christian College, added three more Sunday in the Swedes’ 3-1 soccer victory over the University of Dallas.
Henderson, last year’s KCAC Freshman of the Year, now has eight goals in four games, which the Swedes have split with a 2-2 record.
All three goals came in the second half after the Swedes had trailed 1-0.
“We played really well today,” Henderson said. “We had some good opportunities in the first half, but their goalkeeper made some nice stops. Coach (Sean McMannis) told us we needed to follow up hard and look for opportunities on rebounds. The team did a great job moving the ball and we connected on a few through balls that led to opportunities. Other than the one goal, we played great team defense and this was a complete team win."
McMannis was pleased with the win.
“This was a good day for us to bounce back after the loss to Benedictine," McMannis said. "We had more composure on the ball, and we had good movement off the ball to go åalong with the individual effort of (Sarah) Henderson to put three away. We have to turn our attention and build upon this week and in the weeks to come."
