Swede golfers in middle of the pack

PUEBLO, Colo. — The Bethany College men's golf team opened its season Monday at the Samuel Proal Insurance Wolf Pack Invitational, hosted by Colorado State University-Pueblo. After the first two rounds, the Swedes were seventh out of 15 teams, shooting 294 and 298 for a total of 592. 

The final round, consisting of just 18 holes, is scheduled for today.

First-day play covered 36 holes featuring 15 teams. Wayland Baptist and Victoria tied for the lead after the first day, posting team scores of 569.

Jose Acevedo tied for eighth, finishing the day at 3-under-par. He fired a 69 for his first 18 before coming back with a 72 for a 141 total.

Ben Johnson was tied for 25th, tallying 77-71-148. Scott Farrall shot a 151 (73-78) to tie for 38th. Josef Loughlin followed Farrall, tying for 41st with 152 (75-77).

Lewis Blair and Matt O'Neill tied for 68th. Blair shot an 81-83-164, while O'Neill had an 87-77-164.
