McPherson’s seventh-grade volleyball team hosted Abilene and Salina Lakewood for a triangular on Tuesday.

The A-team lost both matches, 9-25, 8-25 against Abilene and 8-25, 25-27 to Lakewood.

“We struggled with our serve receive tonight, especially against Abilene,” MMS coach Shelly Bohme said. “We changed our serve receive a little in the match against Lakewood, which helped. Our energy level and communication were much better in the second set against Lakewood. We were able to get some sets to our hitters and attack. We had some missed serves at key moments, so we need to continue to improve in that area.”

The B-team swept its matches, 25-22, 25-17 against Abilene and 22-25, 26-24, 15-10 against Lakewood.

“The girls came together as a team and played really well today,” MMS coach Abby Bradstreet said. “We ran a new offense and they did a great job with it. We need to continue to work on our serving, but they stayed positive and had fun.”

The Bullpups play Saturday at Chapman.
