HUTCHINSON — Central Christian College’s cross country team took a limited number of runners to Saturday’s Romp at the Ridge, hosted by Hutchinson Community College.
Josh Wardle ran 71st in the men’s race in 33:28.5 and Masaki Yamashita was 87 in 36:38.5. For the CCC women, Alyssia Johnson (66th in 23:33.6) and Cierra Hess (89th in 27:32.2) were the participants.
"Today's meet didn't go quite as I had hoped,” CCC coach Dan Swaney said. “We had a lot of people have to pull out of their race at the last minute because of sickness and new injuries. I had thought we would have full teams today, but we ended up only having two women and three men start (the race, one dropped out with an injury). I knew the course would be a little slow because of rough footing, having a lot of turns, and being a little hillier than our last meet, but I think it affected them more than I expected it to.”
CCC next competes Sept. 26 at Emporia State.
