MMS' Hedlund runs to cross country title

GODDARD — McPherson Middle School’s Natalie Hedlund came away with the seventh-grade girls championship Tuesday in the Goddard Classic cross country meet.

Hedlund ran a 6:25.02 to win by more than 2 seconds. She helped MMS to a fourth-place finish in the 12-team field.

The MMS eighth-grade girls were second to Goddard in the nine-school field. They were led by MaryAnn Wurm, who was seventh overall.

The eighth-grade boys, paced by the 16th-place finish by Aren Trost, were sixth out of 16 teams and the seventh-grade boys, topped by a 30th by Jackson Schrader, were 14th out of 19 teams.
