BUHLER — McPherson’s ninth-grade volleyball team dropped its first match on Thursday to Andale, but came back for wins over Buhler and Clearwater to improve to 11-3 on the season.
“We played with a lot of confidence and toughness,” MHS coach Emile Blakesley said. “When things weren't going our way, the girls would take a deep breath and I could see it in their faces that they wanted this more than the other teams. We had an injured player go down that played all the way around, and we had some girls step up. Bailea Crist, our libero, was outstanding last night with all her hustle plays. She would get to every single ball from way back to the bleachers, to all the way up to the net. I'm very proud of the girls and I know they played for the injured player as well as themselves.”
MHS lost to Andale (25-14, 24-26, 18-25), but came back to knock off Buhler (25-23, 18-25, 25-21) and Clearwater (25-18, 25-14).
The Bullpups are back in action on Thursday when they go to Andale.
