It took Noah Jirgens one play to set the tone here Monday for McPherson High’s JV football team.

Jirgens returned the opening kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown against Augusta and MHS wound up rolling to a 44-0 rout to improve to 2-1 on the year.

It was part of a four-touchdown salvo for Jirgens. He had all three scores during a 22-0 Bullpup first half.

Jirgens added another score in the second half, as did Michael Saverino and Caleb Spaich, who caught a TD pass from Mason Alexander.

Luke Koehn tallied a pair of 2-point conversions, while Saverino and Alexander had one apiece.

The Bullpups are home again Monday to take on Rose Hill.
